Nissen Sheds at the Vindolanda Trust
The Vindolanda Trust acquired the site of Magna Fort and the Roman Army Museum in 1972, including a Nissen hut. These Nissen huts were developed during the First World War for accommodation and storage, before becoming popular with farmers in the post Second World War period.
The Nissen hut was a key feature of the Vindolanda Trust during the 1970’s, as they served to house the first Roman Vindolanda Museum.
