Bare Bones
26th October – 3rd November, 11am – 4pm.
This is a family friendly-event and free to Roman Army Museum ticket holders.
Animal bones can tell us a lot about the communities stationed along Hadrian’s Wall, from what they were eating to how the soldiers would spend their leisure time! Objects such as needles, hairpins, and dice were often made from animal bone and give us a glimpse into life on the frontier.
Over the October half-term, visit the Roman Army Museum to get a hands-on experience of some of the Vindolanda Trust’s animal bone collection. Learn about what these objects can tell us about communities living over 2,000 years ago.
