Learn
Our education offer has a focus on multi-sensory study and meaningful engagement with the past. A curriculum-based programme has been designed to meet your educational needs in the heart of Hadrian’s Wall country.
At the Roman Army Museum, your group can experience the edge of empire with interactive workshops, teacher-led explorations of the galleries, and our holographic Latin teacher all the way from ancient Rome!
Accessibility
At the Vindolanda Charitable Trust, we believe in history and archaeology for everyone. Ever since our foundation we have been working tirelessly to make our sites more accessible.
For more information about accessibility of the building and the resources available during your visit, please visit our dedicated accessibility page.
We encourage all teachers to come to the site for a familiarisation visit, it helps to orientate yourself on the day and can help you get a sense of the flow of the day. This will help you identify spaces that are louder, have different lighting levels or provide sensory engagement. Sensory Maps and Visual Stories are available to download prior to your visit.
We are committed to making our workshops as accessible as possible. Please do get in touch so was can discuss your groups needs and how we can work together to make your visit the best it can be.
Resources
We have lots of different resources to explore before or after a visit to our sites. These include video clips from our staff, activity sheets and FAQs about Roman history, Vindolanda, Magna, and Hadrian’s Wall.
