Overview

The Roman Army Museum is a fully indoor attraction, located within the Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site in the Northumberland countryside. The Museum uses a combination of Artefacts and Audio-Visual displays to bring life in the Roman Army to life.

The Museum is fully accessible to wheelchair users and has a level approach. You should allow at least 90 minutes to go round the museum. A shop and coffee shop are available for use of visitors within the entry level.

Quieter times at the Museum are typically before 10:30am and after 3:30pm. These periods can offer a more peaceful experience for visitors who prefer a calmer environment. Please note that audio and visual elements in the Museum remain on throughout the day. For the most up-to-date information on events we recommend checking our What’s On page before your visit.

If you require a Changing Places facility, please visit at Walltown Visitor Centre. This is a 2 minute walk from the Roman Army Museum entrance.
