At the Vindolanda Charitable Trust, we believe in history and archaeology for all. Ever since our foundation we have been working tirelessly to make our sites more accessible.

The Roman Army Museum is a fully indoor attraction, located within the Hadrian’s Wall World Heritage Site in the Northumberland countryside. The Museum uses a combination of Artefacts and Audio-Visual displays to bring life in the Roman Army to life.

We are a WelcoME destination and you can use their app to book your visit and let us know your accessibility needs ahead of time. You do not need to use this app to let us know your accessibility needs, you can also get in touch directly with us via email or by calling 016977 47485.

The Museum is fully accessible to Wheelchair users and has a level approach. You should allow at least 90 minutes to go round the museum. A shop and coffee shop are available for use of visitors within the entry level. If you require a Changing Places facility, please visit at Walltown Visitor Centre. This is a 2 minute walk from the Roman Army Museum entrance.

The museum has received Visit England’s Quality Assurance Scheme accreditation for the last 10 years, with additional accreditation in the form of “Welcome Award” for exceptional Customer Service and “Best Told Story” for Interpretation.
