Specific Access Requirements

  • All museum galleries are accessible via ramps. There are dedicated wheelchair spaces in our Roman Classroom and Cinema.
  • The shop and café are located on the ground floor level.
  • The museum gardens and yurt are accessible to wheelchair users via an
    outdoor ramp.
  • Magna Roman Fort and excavations have limited accessibility to wheelchair users.
  • There is a dedicated drop-off point located 10m from the museum entrance.
  • Carers are admitted free of charge to the museum.
  • Assistance animals are welcome on our sites. Please see our assistance animal policy for more information.
  • We have induction hearing loops available throughout the museum galleries.
  • Large print transcripts of audio-visual elements are available from the museum reception.
  • Staff are trained in D/deaf awareness.

Quieter times at the Museum are typically before 10:30am and after 3:30pm. These periods can offer a more peaceful experience for visitors who prefer a calmer environment.

If you require a Changing Places facility, please visit at Walltown Visitor Centre. This is a 2 minute walk from the Roman Army Museum entrance.

Yes, we have 2 dedicated Blue Badge Parking spaces available free of charge in our onsite car park.
